The Amber Room was located in the Catherine castle of Tsarskoye Selo (summer residence of Russian tsars near Saint Petersburg). The amber room was covered by more than 55 square meters and contained over 6 tones of amber. It is a precious piece of art, which include gilding carvings, Danish amber panels, glamorous gemstones, mirrors and statues. This place was used to house a collection of amber-work and Chinese porcelain. There were lots of priceless furniture to protect and showed this outstanding collection. The Amber Room was looted during WWIIby Army Group North of Nazi Germany and brought to Konigsberg palace (destroyed during an Allied bombarding) and then it disappeared. There are many guesses what the future of the Amber Room was.
One of them says that it was crushed by Allied bombs, second claimed that it was removed from the palace and maybe locked up somewhere in the city, third – that it was put onto a vessel, but soaked during the shipping. It has also been suggested that the cabinet got misplaced and simply forgotten and maybe it will be meet after many years in some old depot between some boxes chests, tables and other furniture or other missing treasures. A lots of people are again and again looking for this outstanding part of art, many of them spent all theirs life on this action, a few of them even died. It is believed that the Amber Room is coursed and those who are hardly break up its mystery died or are calamity. After many years the Amber Room was reconstructed by Russian artists and reopened in 2003 (it was connected with 300th celebration of Saint Petersburg).
